Two local lawmakers Representatives John Eichelberger and John Mcginnis invited their constituents to a Town Hall Meet Monday night.

It’s a chance for them to hear what folks have to say and give an update on what’s happening in Harrisburg.

Some topics included the Pennsylvania budget and the gambling legislation signed by the Governor Monday.

Representative McGinnis voted against it, and doesn’t believe the area will benefit from the new law.

“Its mostly based on expanding the casinos around the state, not additional casinos, but smaller what they call satellite casinos from existing ones,” said Rep. McGinnis, “I don’t know that Altoona will be precluded from them, but I’m doubtful we’ll get one of these mini casinos here.”

The goal of the gambling legislation is to bring in at least $100M in the upcoming year and $200M or more in the following years.
