A local Johnstown chef needs a kidney transplant. Now, his bosses are cooking up a plan to help.

Joe Koenig is the chef at Press Bistro in downtown Johnstown. He’s diagnosed with Polycystic Kidney Disease and will need a transplant.

In order to help with his medical bills, the owners of Press Bistro, Jeremy and Jen Shearer, along with his sister are planning a fundraiser on Sunday, Nov. 19th.

Koenig said he can’t believe all the support he’s received from his family and the community.

“Everyone’s real busy, all three are super, super busy people and they’re still making time to help me it. It means a lot to me. I still don’t know how I’m going to thank them,” Koenig said.

The fundraiser runs from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday, November 19 at Bottle Works Ethnic Arts Center on Third Avenue in the Cambria City neighborhood in Johnstown.

There will be music, food, drinks and a basket raffle. Tickets cost $50 and will be sold at the door.
