A good samaritan was struck on the side of the street in Bedford County Monday night.

Police said the woman was trying to help an injured dog along State Route 36 in South Woodbury Township. Then, all of a sudden, officers said a driver crossed over the fog line and struck the woman and the guardrail.

The 68-year-old was flown to the hospital and the suspect is on the run.

“Unfortunately we had someone that struck an individual, seriously injuring that person, then they left the scene,” Tpr. Jeff Petucci, from the Pennsylvania State Police, said. “So now obviously that is a crime and we’re actively trying to find that person at this point in time.”

Police are now trying to track down the person responsible. They said they’re looking for a white Chrysler or Dodge sedan.

“This vehicle probably, most likely, has front and passenger damage on the vehicle,” Tpr. Petucci said. “So again, white vehicle with damage on that front area of the vehicle and the passenger side.”

Serious charges are expected to stem from the incident, so officers are hoping the public can help. They said any information is key to solving this crime.
