Four people are now facing charges surrounding 2017 murder. Clearfield County District Attorney Bill Shaw has filed charges against four people in the death of 19-year-old Chase Anderson on Tuesday.

The defendants Denny Bailey of Woodland, Kenja Tew, of Glen Richey are both facing criminal homicide charges. Chantell Demi, of Woodland, has been charged with criminal conspiracy to commit homicide.

Police say Chase Anderson’s body was found in a wooded area in Pike Township on August 29th. The 19-year-old was last seen alive on August 11th.

While at the time police said they had suspects in custody it wasn’t until April 3rd, charges were filed. District Attorney Bill Shaw says, “We knew who did it but we have proved who did it meaning you have to prove with competent evidence to a jury. You can’t rely on simply statements from people who are drug addicts and unreliable. You have to go out get them reliable evidence and reliable witnesses”

According to court paperwork, officials said they learned that Anderson was working for Bailey. Shaw says the case was centered around drugs, “I think I share the feelings of many people here in Clearfield County in our community that were sick and tired of this type of behavior and this type of conduct. We’re going to do everything we can to prosecute these folks and to prosecute people who commit these types of crimes.”

Witnesses say Tew was heard saying that Anderson “was not coming back alive.”

Officials say Tew led them to the remains on August 29th. A forensic team from Mercyhearst University had determined Anderson died of blunt force trauma and was stabbed 26 times.

Troopers also filed charges against Bailey, Demi, and Joseph Ralston, of Curwensville, with destroying evidence. They believe Bailey instructed Demi and Ralston to burn a vehicle used in the murder.

Police are still looking for Ralston. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call State Police at (814) 857-3800.

The other three were arraigned on charges in Clearfield County. Preliminary hearings are set for April 11th.
