HARRISBURG (WTAJ) — Lawmakers in both the House and Senate are working to get people with criminal records out of the prison system and back to work.
A pair of bi-partisan bills have been introduced in both the House and Senate that would remove barriers for jobs that require a government license, like barbers and auctioneers.
More than one in five jobs in Pennsylvania require a government license.
The bills would only allow licensure boards to consider convictions that directly relate to the occupation.
The proposed bills are designed to create a new way to get more ex-offenders back to work.
