UPMC Bedford Memorial today cut the ribbon on a renovation project at its outpatient unit.
That’s where patients go for colonoscopies, endoscopies, bronchoscopes, and other diagnostic procedures. Transfusions and injections are also among the treatments performed there.

Using a donation, the hospital upgraded patient rooms with wall and paint updates, window treatments and custom casework, floor replacements and a new acoustical ceiling system.
Vice President of Operations Michael Corso says most patients are in and out of the unit in a short amount of time, but the outpatient area sees a lot of traffic.

“The work that they do here, the patients are in and out in a short amount of time, but if we can provide the nicest environment for them, it certainly gives them a brighter aspect,” Michael Corso, VP of Operations, UPMC Altoona, UPMC Bedford

Rooms where patients undergo diagnostic procedures also received an upgrade. Michael Corso says the unit basically received some tlc and a facelift.
