The Clearfield County Fair was busy Thursday with fair-goers and 4H activities.

For kids in 4H, fair week is what many work for all year.

However, Thursday’s competition wasn’t to judge their animals, it was to see who is the master showman.

Seven participants competed to see who could best show eight different animals, which includes cows, sheep and chickens.

Many of the kids who compete may have never worked with some of the animals before.

“It helps them understand the different levels of showmanship,” Jana Davidson, Clearfield County 4H Teen Council Advisor. “It helps them become a better showman themselves, but it also lets them step outside their comfort zone and experience something different.”

While the 4H kids have been busy this week, so have the many food vendors.

There are around 115 different food vendors at the fair this year.

One local food stand that returns every year is Stucke’s Stand.

This is the 54th year for the Stucke Family to set up at the fair.

Now making fair food is a business being passed down from generation to generation.

“My mother’s known for her breakfasts, her sloppy joes, her hot ham and cheese,” Dallas Stucke said. “It’s a good friendly atmosphere with somewhere to sit. I’m known for chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy in a waffle cone.”

Dallas Stucke has been operating his booth at the fair for four years.
