Centre Foundation awards $10,000 grant.
Members of Giving Circle gathered Wednesday to hear presentations from three local organizations before awarding a $10,000 grant to the ACRES Project.
ACRES, which stands for Adults Creating Residential and Employment Solutions, is a State College nonprofit working to create work/life skills, and self-advocacy, and independence for adults with Autism.
Presenters Jeffrey Rose and Mary Krupa, both clients of ACRES Project, explained how adults over 21 years old have limited community and employment opportunities.
“Imagine having the skills and drive to earn a Ph.D. but lacking the communication or social skills to secure meaningful employment,” said Krupa.
These programs are designed by and for adults with Autism.
The $10,000 grant will go towards increasing employment opportunities for adults with Autism by providing networking opportunities, interview training, mentorship, on-the-job support, and more.
