Applications now available for Mayor’s Youth Council.

The Mayor’s Youth Council (MYC) was established by Mayor Matt Pacifico, and provides a voice to area high school students to share their ideas and concerns about issues young people face today.

Students acting on the MYC will be able to advise the Mayor on key priorities and will act as a liaison between the schools and City Hall.

Applications for the MYC will be open to juniors and seniors at Altoona Area High School, Bishop Guilfoyle High School, and Great Commission School. The council, taking place during the school year, will require students to apply on a yearly basis to participate.

The meeting location will rotate between participating schools and will last one hour, starting approximately at 3:15 p.m. In the 2018-2019 school year, the council will officially meet in November 2018.

Students interested on serving on the MYC can now submit applications and recommendation letters until Friday, October 5, 2018.

If anyone has questions, they can contact Kim Carrieri, Executive Assistant, Office of the Mayor at: kcarrieri@altoonapa.gov or 814-949-2408.

For more information regarding the requirements to participate, go to the announcements section of the city website at www.altoonapa.gov.
