A local family is asking for your help to get a service dog for their daughter.
5-year-old Addylyn Luke of Tunnel Hill has peanut and tree nut allergies. Simply touching a surface where someone else may have ate something containing the nuts could be life-threatening.
The family has been approved for the dog through allergen detection service dogs, but is working with Service Paws of Central PA to raise the money needed to cover the cost.

To Whom It May Concern:
Addylyn was diagnosed with Peanut and Tree Nut Allergies at a very young age. Her entire life our family has been working tirelessly to avoid nuts, advocate for our child, and protect her in every way possible. Simply touching a surface which someone may have consumed a peanut butter sandwich on earlier could be life threatening for our sweet, 5-year-old girl.
After much research our family started looking into an Allergen Detecting Service Dog for Addylyn. We are currently working with Service Paws of Central Pennsylvania to obtain a trained dog which will help detect the odor of Peanuts on surfaces and alert us so that we can respond and prevent Addy from coming in contact when possible.
We have been blessed to be approved for a Dog through Allergen Detection Service Dogs, a school in Colorado Springs, Colorado. We are taking steps to raise the funds to cover the cost of the dog and need your help. We are asking for donations to be made to Service Paws of Central Pennsylvania in Addy’s name. If you are not able to financially contribute we ask for well wishes and prayers to keep us headed in the right direction toward obtaining a dog for Addy. We do have donation cans which can be placed at your business for others to donate. Any help or amount would be greatly appreciated to contribute to a dog for Addy and to this wonderful organization to helps others purchase and maintain service dogs.
Service Paws of Central PA (SPCP) is a non-profit, non-residential, community-based organization, founded in 2011 by Ms. Leslie Kelly, who herself is deaf and relies on the expertise of her service dog, Nokie. All members of the SPCP Advisory Board are volunteers. SPCP was established with the goal of helping individuals financially obtain a service dog and/or helping defray extraordinary veterinary costs for those currently using a service dog.
