Holiday shoppers who were out and about on Black Friday determined to find the best deals, hit a bit of a snag: many items were already sold out.
That’s because some stores already opened their doors on Thanksgiving Day.
What used to be just one day of shopping has turned into five. With stores open on Thanksgiving holiday shoppers have to choose: family or that discounted gift?
“I think it’s a bad move, especially if you’ve got to work retail, which I don’t,” said shopper Martha Miller. “I don’t think that’s a good idea. We should make it Friday, Black Friday, and that’s it.”
Parking lots were packed to the brim and many people just waited until someone pulled out of a spot. However, when they finally got inside the stores, a lot of the deals were already gone.
“A lot of the stuff is sold out,” said Mike Konitsky, another shopper. “We were a little too late.”
The International Council of Shopping Centers said consumers will spend an average of more than $550 on holiday deals.
A shocking statistic for Konitsky.
“Oh wow. Yeah, we’re not close to that,” he said.
There are just three days of holiday deals left and these shoppers are going home empty-handed.
