Basketball players in Altoona teamed up with a local nonprofit on Sunday to fight cancer.

The 5th Annual I CAN Sideline Pancreatic Cancer purple game took place during Sunday’s Penn State-Altoona men’s and women’s basketball games.

The Griffith Family Foundation started the event to raise awareness and money to fight the disease.

At the game, they gave out free purple bracelets, team members wore Sideline Pancreatic Cancer t-shirts and sold t-shirts. In total, they raised $550 for cancer research.

So far, the foundation has raised $260,000.
