Two nonprofits in Johnstown need your help collecting new coats to give to people in need.

The Gateway to Christ Ministries is holding a free Christmas Eve celebration for anyone in the community. They’re teaming up with the Bikers Helping Kids Foundation to collect new coats and shoes to hand out to people in need who attend the party.

The party runs from 5- 7 p.m. at the Holiday Inn in downtown Johnstown on December 24. There’s going to be a nondenominational church service, food and music.

Volunteers say the holidays are the perfect time to give back.

“We also want to give them something that they can take back and say, ‘Boy, they really do care about me.’ We do care about people. We do care about this community,” said Gary Hale, the ministries’ president.

You can drop off new coats at Jackie’s Toss & Wash in Moxham or Toxic Vape in Ferndale.

You can also mail checks to Gateway to Christ Ministries so they can purchase new coats or shoes. Just mail them to: 1721 Tampa Avenue, Johnstown, PA 15902 and write “coats” in the memo line.
