A former Johnstown pediatrician accused of sexually assaulting patients and family members pleaded guilty today.
According to Attorney General Josh Shapiro, 71-year-old Johnnie Barto of Johnstown admitted to abusing more than 30 children over several decades
The vast majority of the assaults happened in the examination room at Laurel Pediatric Associates of Cambria County and at local hospitals.
“Dr. Johnnie Barto used his position of authority, as the pediatrician who families relied on, to feed his own sick desires and take advantage of parents and children seeking basic health care,” said Attorney General Shapiro.
Barto’s sentencing is scheduled for March.
