Kids in Jefferson County can spend part of their winter break learning more about winter weather.
The Punxsutawney Weather Discovery Center is holding its Winter Wonders program.
It’s a three day program with three different lessons.
Thursday’s lesson was all about the science of cold.
“Through some traditional, like pen and paper, learning, they’ll also do activities, experiments, they’ll have free time with our exhibits, which is always a big plus” Weather Discovery Center director Marlene Lellock said.
Along with learning about cold weather, kids will learn about the science of snow and ice on the remaining two days.
“It’s Christmas vacation, and you know they can get a little bit wound up and maybe they need something to focus them a little bit more, maybe a little bit more structure when they’re out of the classroom, but yet it’s fun as well,” Lellock said.
Winter Wonders will continue on Friday and Saturday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Weather Discovery Center.
The cost is $8 for one day and $15 for two days. To pre-register, call 814-938-1000. Walk-ins are also welcome.
