Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center is being recognized for its diabetes prevention program.

It’s estimated 36 percent of adults in Pennsylvania have prediabetes. The lifestyle change program provides education to local residents in preventing it from progressing to Type 2 diabetes.

“We have worked extensively over the last several years to provide community education and outreach for our local residents. Diabetes can be prevented and managed. We’re providing patients the lifestyle tools they need to stay healthy,” said Barbara Duryea, Manafer of Conemaugh Diabetes Institute.

The hospital is one of only 17 statewide to earn the Full Recognition from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
