A newly enforced state act shows nearly 2,000 rape kits remain untested.
Auditor General Eugene DePasquale said the backlogged rape kits have been waiting more than a year to be tested.
Act 27 requires state-approved labs and local law enforcement agencies to report these numbers.
DePasquale is planning an audit and an investigation to see what can be done to get this number to zero.
