Elementary students in Elk County were visited by a team of superheroes Thursday– and their superpower is giving books to kids.

Dressed as superheroes, Domtar’s Johnsonburg Paper Manufacturing Mill donated more than 200 books.

The books were distributed at Fox Township Elementary and Bennetts Valley Elementary.

It’s all part of the One Book One School program — designed to get kids and families excited about reading.

Students, staff and teachers will all read the same book.

“It’s absolutely a wonderful event especially that we’re able to say we need to read, we need to read more and literacy is something we really need to focus on as these young children grow up to be adults,” Fox Township Elementary principal Karen Lucanick said.

Domtar partners with a nonprofit called First Book to provide the books.

The company has donated more than a half a million dollars in grants to schools since 2012.
