A new report shows that our region gained about $45 million in benefits last year from Western Pennsylvania’s largest healthcare system. UPMC, which owns hospitals in Altoona and Bedford released its Community Benefits Report 2015-2016 on Tuesday.
It shows that UPMC Altoona provided $41 million dollars in community benefits last year, an average of more than $112,000 a day for programs and services. That includes $18.5 in charity and unreimbursed care. .
According to the report, UPMC Bedford provided $4.6 million dollars in community benefits, including $2.7 million in charity and unreimbursed care.
