Some voters who were once registered Democrats say they’re so passionate about Donald Trump, they’ve switched to the Republican Party.

Chris Baker, a senior at Penn State, said he used to campaign for the Democratic Party, but now he’s a loyal Trump Supporter.

He referenced a speech given by President Ronald Reagan, noting that he doesn’t view politics as “left or right” but rather a matter of “up and down.”

Baker said he supports Trump’s proposed economic plans to eliminate income tax based on earnings.

“My personal belief is that anyone who is willing to even flirt with the idea  of a President Clinton is already embarking on that downward path,” Baker said.

The political presence in State College is growing, and a new Trump Headquarters is now open right next to campus.

Dmitri Loutsik, also another former Democrat, said Donald Trump has won him over.

“My family used to be Democrat, and switched over to Republican just because of Trump…yeah my whole family,” Loutsik said.

Loutsik said he agrees with Trump’s stance on immigration and free trade.

Both students are involved with the “Bull-Moose Party,” a student-run group that created the “We Are For Trump” mobile app.

The name is a reference dating back to the early 1900’s to a Republican Party that nominated Teddy Roosevelt.

Baker said it was intended to destroy corrupt politics, something he believes is still an issue today.

“We just want people to be more informed my belief is the more informed you are the more likely you are going to make the right decision, which I believe is to vote for Donald Trump,” Baker said.

Baker said it’s a great tool to keep fellow voters in the loop and an outlet for people to register to vote.

Loutsik says with so many resources available, there’s no excuse not to register.

Voter registration forms are also available at the new Trump Headquarter’s.
