Wine is now available at one Sheetz store in Pennsylvania with more planned.

State House Speaker Mike Turzai bought the first bottle at the King Street Sheetz in Shippensburg this morning. Turzai sponsored Act 39 – the legislation passed earlier this year allowing beer sale license holders to upgrade to include wine.

Sheetz Board Director Louie Sheetz credits the grocery and convenience store industries for pushing the reform led by what he says consumers want.
“I think it’s a testament to their development, to the Legislature, to the PLCB in Harrisburg, and the consumer who clearly has been asking and wanting it. They’ve driven us to make this type of reform possible.”

Sheetz currently has five stores in Pennsylvania who have applied to add wine to their sales of six-packs of beer for off-premise consumption.
