WTAJ is on the campaign trail, keeping track of local races and the presidential race.  Our travels have taken us all over the state, including one interesting house in Youngstown, Westmoreland County.

“I’m really excited to have him as an option in this election,” said Leslie Rossi, owner of the “Trump House. “I think he’s really great and will put America first.”

Rossi is doing her part to help “Make America Great Again” in sort of an unconventional kind of way.

“I’m maybe seeing as many as a thousand a day on a weekend and 350 to 650 during the week,” she said. “So a lot of support just pouring into this small town for Mr. Trump.”

Rossi painted the house along Rt. 928 to look like an American flag back in April to bring awareness to the election before the primaries.  The big trump in her yard showed up in August.

“I drew it on notebook paper and it took three days to do the front three faces of the house,” she said. “We started out small like that so we could get it done quickly for the primary.”

Rossi has gotten some negative feedback, but she said most of the people stopping by think it’s great.

“It’s been extremely positive,” she said. “I mean people are driving five and six hours just to come and spend a day here.”

Some come as far as Europe, and nobody leaves empty-handed.

“They can get a shirt. They can get a hat. A lot of them say “Trump: Make America Great Again”.”

It has been more than just a spectacle.  The house has inspired people to register to vote and talk about some of the more serious issues in this election.  Rossi herself said she has never been so invested in a political race.

“I guess I feel well rounded now because I understand a lot of situations that are affecting this election and why it’s so important and so passionate to people,” she explained. “They’re really worried about their rights. They’re worried about their jobs. They’re worried about healthcare. They’re worried about their kids in school. They’re really worried about the future.”

If you stop by the “Trump House” you can take one free item of each kind, hats, shirts, yard signs, buttons, pens, and bumper stickers included.
