A former fire company treasurer was sentenced Monday for stealing money from Winburne’s fire department.

 

Brittany Bell, 31, got to 90 days to one year after paying back $30,000 of the $43,000 she stole.

 

Under her plea agreement, if she hadn’t paid that much by Monday’s court date, she would have gotten nine months in jail.

 

Bell told police she had lost her job before taking the money. She was first charged with the crime in January. Courthouse workers say she’ll report to jail next Tuesday to serve her sentence.
