MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — Groups across the state are gathering in recognition of National Gun Violence Awareness Day.
Governor Tom Wolf made a stop in Montgomery County Friday.
Wearing orange, he and others spoke of the importance of gun safety and efforts to help keep communities safer from gun violence.
One of those efforts is called the “Gun Violence Reduction Initiative“ which is a program that helps municipalities implement strategies to reduce gun violence.
It also educates folks on the risk factors that could lead to that violence.
“Think how many families we can have an effect on. Think of how many mothers, as I said in Harrisburg, could see their sons and daughters come home. How many children would still have their parents. How many things we could really do to help families in communities if we continue to work together to end gun violence in Pennsylvania,“ said Governor Wolf.
