February is National Heart Month and an ambulance organization is encouraging the community to learn more about CPR.

Centre Life Link is offering a free CPR class that will teach the skills to provide CPR to adults, children and infants.

Organizers said CPR is essential for everyone to learn, as it could mean the difference between life and death.

“When a cardiac arrest occurs, irreversible brain damage can start as soon as six minutes after the heart stops, so if CPR isn’t already in progress before EMS arrives, we can already be behind the eight ball,” Eliza Shaw, an outreach coordinator said.

The free CPR class is full, but Centre Life Link said they’re looking to provide a discounted class next month.
