Five senior community centers in our area will receive a total of more than $300,000 in grant money.
Governor Tom Wolf made the announcement Wednesday in Philadelphia.
Money from the 2016-17 Senior Community Center Grants come from the Pennsylvania Lottery.
The grants, totaling $2 million, will be distributed to 38 centers throughout the state.
Governor Wolf says the money gives centers resources to expand their services to seniors.
“You are going to be able to have your healthcare just like your residential experience, just like your social experiences in the communities that your care about most, you don’t have to go somewhere else to get something,” said Governor Wolf.
There are more than 500 senior community centers across the 67 counties in Commonwealth.
Here’s a list of the local centers and how much money they will receive:
Hyndman Senior Center, Inc. in Bedford County: $82,420
