Saturday, Feb. 25th marks the 40th anniversary of the movie ‘Slapshot’. Some of the extras who played the “Bluebirds Skating Group” are remembering what it was like to be in the movie.

The women were all members of the Johnstown Skating Club at the time. They said it’s fun to remember the costumes, wigs, makeup and the actors they worked alongside.

Jennifer Drummey was 17-years-old when the movie was filmed and never expected how big the movie would become.

“Just to be part of that, what has now become just a huge cult hit. Little did we know back then, our little figure skating club, that we’d be part of that,” said Drummey, a “Bluebird” ice-skater.

The women said they practiced their routine for weeks before filming their scene, which took two days to film.
