The suspect, Jamie McVicker, is facing criminal homicide and attempted homicide charges for allegedly shooting and killing his ex-girlfriend, Brittney Kyle.

Police said Kyle had gone to the house along Rolling Hill Road in Boswell with her current boyfriend, Tyrell Ferguson, to collect her belongings.

After Kyle had made a couple trips inside, Ferguson called police because he heard yelling inside the home. As Ferguson and Kyle were about to drive away, that’s when McVicker allegedly shot at them.

Kyle was found dead in the driver’s seat of the car. Ferguson was also shot, but only suffered minor injuries and was treated at the hospital.

When detectives arrived on the scene, they issued a lookout for McVicker’s car. About 45 minutes later, police arrested McVicker in Davidsville.

“Luckily, we were able to get the person we believed to be involved in that in custody right away,” said Pennsylvania State Trooper Steve Limani.

Police said McVicker was caught so quickly after the shooting because officers recognized his car from a previous DUI.

McVicker was actually scheduled for a DUI sentencing Monday afternoon. He’s being held at Somerset County Prison.
