The building on Lake Street in South Fork Borough was knocked down Saturday. Part of Lake Street was shut down for more than a week as a safety precaution because the building was starting to collapse.
Traffic was re-routed down Main Street, shutting down parking temporarily to make room for cars. Now, all roads and parking meters are back open.
Borough officials said they’re glad the building will no longer pose a threat to the area.
“We’re relieved because the building could have fallen on the street. There aren’t any kids that were hurt or any type of accidents from it. So everybody’s happy,” said Peggy Glacken, a South Fork Borough Council Member.
The council held a public meeting Monday night at the borough office to discuss the options for the empty lot where the building stood.
