New charges are expected to be filed for the two people facing charges for assaulting a three week old baby in Clearfield County, according to District Attorney Bill Shaw.
The baby’s parents, 32 year-old Aaron Mills and 22 year-old Stephanie McGuire of Osceola Mills, were arrested over the weekend for the assault, according to police. Authorities say the two are each facing multiple charges including aggravated assault, simple assault, endangering the welfare of children, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to state police, the 3 week old baby girls condition was discovered Tuesday at an apartment building along Edwards Street in Osceola Mills. The baby was taken to a family doctor to be examined for severe diaper rash. While under the doctors treatment, it was found that the baby was suffering from two broken legs, bruising on her ribs and nose, cuts on her face and a tear in her rectum. According to the doctor, it was one of the worst cases of child abuse on a baby that age, he has ever seen. State police say the doctor reported that the injuries the child has, would cause her to loose a lot of blood and is very painful.
The baby is still recovering and is under treatment at the Geisinger Medical Care Center in Danville. Mills and McGuire are being held at the Clearfield County Jail.
Clearfield District Attorney, Bill Shaw says this case is a very heartwrenching one, and claims he will do everything he can to help see those accused brought to the fullest extent of the law.
