Baseball is back! The Altoona Curve took the field for the first time in Altoona, Pa this afternoon.

The team faced off against the Indiana University of Pennsylvania Crimson Hawks in a scrimmage.

Its a good chance for new members of the Curve to get experience in their new surroundings, and extra practice before the season starts.

Fans will notice some exciting new things at the ballpark this season.

Employees at the Curve say one of the things they are most excited for is temporarily changing their name to the Yinzers.

“We’ve always been a Pittsburgh Pirates Affiliate and we wanted to celebrate that being 21 years into our relationship with the pirates,” said Derek Martin, Curve General Manager.

The Curve opens up their season officially this Thursday in Akron Ohio.

The home opener in Altoona is set for Thursday, April 11.
